Grid Tied System

The grid-tied solar system is a type of electricity generation in which the power plant receives its electric supply from on-site battery storage. The grid-tie solar system can be used to store surplus renewable energy (solar and wind) so that it may be dispatched when demand spikes, such as during peak hours at night or on weekends. Grid-tie systems also have the advantage over centralized generators in that they are not reliant upon commercial lines for fuel delivery, meaning there would be no need to build extra transmission capacity if more distributed sources were added into the equation.
